What is web and email forwarding?
With domain name registration we offer the following services for
2 years:
Web Site Forwarding
You can use your new Domain name with any web space / pages that
you already have, for example you may have some free space given
by your ISP. We will point your new Domain name at your own existing
webspace. This way your visitors will type in http://www.yourname.co.uk
, instead of http://homepages.yourisp.co.uk/yourname. Your real
address will not show in the web browser address bar, hiding the
fact that you are using free webspace.
Email Forwarding
You can have any number of email addresses at your new domain,
eg you@yourdomain.co.uk, or sales@yourdomain.co.uk.
All email sent to your new domain name will be automatically forwarded
to an email address of your choice, for example the one provided
by your ISP. For example an email sent to you@yourdomain.co.uk will
be automatically forwarded to you@yourname.freeserve.net.
By using these free services your visitors will not know that your
website is hosted on your free ISP webspace.
Please Note:
Although you can have multiple email aliases e.g. sales@yourdomain.co.uk,
accounts@yourdomain.co.uk, info@yourdomain.co.uk etc, you can only
receive email from your domain name at one current email address
of your choice; sales@, accounts@, info@ etc can all be forwarded
joe@bloggs.fsnet.co.uk. i.e, you cannot have sales@yourdomain.co.uk
forwarded to joe@bloggs.fsnet.co.uk and info@yourdomain.co.uk forwarded
to fred@browns.fsnet.co.uk.
What is the control panel?
The control panel is an area where existing clients can alter their
web or email forwarding details at any time.
Please Note:
Your changes can take up to 24 hours to implement, this is to allow
our server to refresh.
When I have registered my domain name
how long will it be before I can start to use it?
When you place your order with 1on1 Names we immediately register
the domain name with the relevant naming authority. We would hope
to implement your forwarding services within 24 hours, however at
certain periods this may take a little longer.
How do I use my new domain name?

webspace. This way your visitors will type in http://www.yourname.co.uk

be automatically forwarded to you@yourname.freeserve.net.
By using these free services your visitors will not know that your
website is hosted on your free ISP webspace.
Should I register a name now for use
later on?
Oh definitely yes! The number of times we have seen a name that
is still available and thought "I'll register that name tomorrow"...and
by the time we get around to it the name has been taken by someone
else! And it's usually a competitor!!
If you wish to do this then simply leave the web and mail forwarding
fields blank in the application form. We'll park it for you until
you're ready. You can then change your details easily at any time
with our control panel.
What if the name I want to use is
already taken?
Try a different domain, eg try .org.uk . You can also try a slight
variation. For example, to register an address based on a cycle
shop you could try www.cycle-shop.co.uk , or www.cycleshop.co.uk.
Would you advise registering more
than one variant of a domain name?
It all depends on yourself and what you intend to use your new
domain name for. If your domain name is for use with your own personal
website then in all honesty it would probably not be cost effective
in registering a different variant.
However if you currently own www.pizzas-to-go.co.uk and plan to
trade through your website then we would definitely advise registering
at least the .com variant. Otherwise there would be nothing to stop
an individual registering www.pizzas-to-go.com and trading on the
back of your success.
How do I publish my website to the
Internet?
You will need to contact the ISP who has provided your web space.
Comprehensive documentation is usually found at your ISP's website
or can be obtained from their technical support team.
When you have published your website simply provide 1on1 Names
with the URL (e.g. http://www.homepages.myisp.net/yourname) of your
website via our control panel.
Will the domain name be registered
in our name and not yours?
All domain names that are registered through 1on1 Names are registered
in the registrants name. As a company we pride ourselves on having
absolutely no hidden extras.
I have just registered a domain name
with you, why is it still showing as available on your website?
When you place your order with 1on1 Names your domain name is applied
for within 30 seconds.
Our search facility scans the relevant naming authority's database
and we are reliant on them updating as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately the databases are not updated in 'real time' and
so your name may still show as available in a search up to 36 hours
after it has been registered on your behalf.
